Iran, East and West Azerbaijan provinces, 2008 until 2014: Leprosy is a kind of chronic infectious disease that is famous to (Khoreh) in Iran. But Iran is not kind of countries that statistic of leprosy is high and inter to the phase of removing disease in the nationwide level, but Iran has leprosy. More Iranian leprosy patients live in the village of Baba Baghi and two other villages in East and West Azerbaijan provinces. Baba Baghi is an only medical center in Iran for leprosy patients. Today leprosy is not a panic disease and with suitable drugs, it is been cured completely but most of these patients are affected by the disease and the injuries of the disease will never disappear from their face or body. Social and mental suffering of this disease is more than other incurable disease. Complications and alterations due to Hans bacillus that arise in the nerves of the eye, hands and feet, is been considered fear factor among people and that results isolation and depression in these patients. The organs of lepers are very loose and cause that they can not work and unable them and they seem scary among people. Poverty and homelessness, poor nutrition and because of lack of personal hygiene is one of the important factor in catching leprosy and after that psychological problems has been added to the diseconomy. Baba Baghi’s men and women have been isolated and sequestered of community and they have been forgotten. But they continue to live in hope for better future.
